Valentine’s Day may be over, but that doesn’t mean there are no more holidays to celebrate this month of February. On the contrary! Yes, the 14th of February may be the only special occasion on this month in which we are prompted to wax poetic and be cheesy, but there are other special dates, too, on which we can be just as – well, be just as silly. (And obnoxious) And there are even sillier e-cards to help us do just that.
February 19 is Temporary Insanity Day. Yup, I know: every single day in America can be insane anyway. But this date actually marks something official – something with a kind of historical significance: February 19 (many years ago) was the first time temporary insanity was accepted as a plea in court. In honor of this occasion, you can go crazy, mumble incoherently, live carelessly, and have fun obscenely. Or you can simply send the Temporary Insanity Day e-card, that which encourages senders and recipients alike to do something crazy. Even if just for a day.
February 20 is Toothpick Day. No, it’s not a silly day at all. It’s very important. Remember this the next time you get something stuck in your teeth, like corned beef or a Chinese noodle. Toothpick Day marks the day in 1972 that Silas Noble and J.P. Cooley invented their toothpick manufacturing equipment, which was then patented as the first of its kind. So on the 20th of February, be sure to smile your cleanest smile and send this special “just because” e-card to your friends. Then tell them, like this card does, “On Toothpick Day, and everyday, I couldn’t pick a better friend than you.”
February 21 is Pizza Delivery Day. This might be more important than Valentine’s Day, because I honestly do think that pizza delivery is the greatest thing that’s been invented since sliced bread. Just make the call, and voila! A dateless Friday night that doesn’t make you look that much of a loser. On this date, thank the pizza delivery guy for all his hard work by rewarding him with a bigger tip. Or just send him this E-card. It’s so easy. It’s so cheesy.
February 23 is Tennis Day. This is the day to honor Walter Clopton Wingfield’s most popular invention: the game of tennis. Originally called “sticky”, the game was designed by Wingfield for the amusement of his guests at a garden party on his estate in Wales. It was then patented February 23, 1874. Since then, the game of tennis has spread throughout the world. Don’t know how to play? You can still celebrate Tennis Day. Make a racket and send this silly Tennis Day e-card to friends.
February 24 is National Obnoxious Day. It’s National Obnoxious Day. Don’t ask me why. It’s just that the 24th of February is National Obnoxious Day. No, not International Obnoxious Day, just National Obnoxious Day; obnoxious aliens aren’t invited to the party. Sorry. Just being as obnoxious as this obnoxious National Obnoxious Day e-card.
