What could Mom possibly want on Mother’s Day? It’s funny to think about, but what I would want more than anything on Mother’s Day would be a day off. Cleaning, cooking, working, watching, juggling, struggling… but what about primping and playing?
Whether your Mother’s Day idea is to send Mom out for a day-off, or to find Mother’s Day activities to do out of the house together, I have some great ideas!
First things first: Don’t just have an idea and leave it up to your mom to set it up on Mother’s Day. Set it up yourself way before Mother’s Day! I’m talking reservations, payment, directions, packing, even filling up the gas tank in Mom’s car. The point is for Mom not having to worry about anything for a Mother’s Day activity, and just to go with the flow.
Now, here are some great Mother’s Day ideas:
For the chef Mom:
Let Mom have the day off from cooking! What about booking a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch and having everyone there? Or how about a Mother’s Day picnic in the park?
Does Mom love wine? You can take her to some great wine-tasting events on Mother’s Day.
For the sporty Mom:
What about taking Mom and the family to a Mother’s Day Sunday sports event? A baseball game is perfect for a lazy, sunny afternoon. Find a baseball game in your area. Does your Mom like playing sports? After your picnic in the park, how about a family volleyball, tennis, soccer, softball, or heck even flag football game? Or take Mom and the family golfing or put-putting on Mother’s Day!
Has Mom ever been horseback riding? Maybe Mother’s Day is the perfect time to take a long ride with her.
For the shop-a-holic Mom:
Chances are, Mom has dragged you from store to store before. Don’t complain about it this time, set it up! There are tons of shopping sites in every local town from savings to upscale tastes. Has Mom ever had the chance to do some high scale shopping in the big city? Maybe this year is the year! And do not let her pay, ask Dad for his credit card
For the arts and entertainment Mom:
On Mother’s day, you can take your Mom to a show! There are tons of great musical, Broadway shows, and even concerts to choose from! If you Mom loves the Wizard of Oz, Wicked is an amazing musical about the life of the bad witch. If your mom loves Billy Joel as much as my mom does, his tour is still going!
For the Mom that needs some pampering (for any Mom):
Spas. Enough said. Mud baths, massages, facials, manicures, pedicures… absolutely the best stress-reducing package for Mother’s Day. Check out the spa packages in your area.
Of course don’t forget about the flowers and the Mother’s Day card! But make sure beyond that Mom will have time off from day-to-day Mom stuff. Make her have the day off and take her on a Mother’s Day out! Even better, put the directions, map, tickets, plans in a printable envelope in the morning so she knows what the day will bring! Want it to be a surprise? Personalize a printable Mother’s Day card with “clues” for her Mother’s Day activities.
