This Thanksgiving should be interesting for my wife and I because we are going to host Thanksgiving dinner for the first time. We’ve never tried preparing a turkey ourselves, so this should be adventurous. Hopefully we won’t have to settle for heading to a Chinese restaurant for some beheaded duck like Ralphie’s folks in “A Christmas Story.”
In order to make sure we do the turkey right, we have already started looking up tips and suggestions. One of the best resources we came across for Thanksgiving dinner and cooking a turkey is the Thanksgiving recipes section on AllRecipes.com. Their microsite has a Turkey 101 primer and plenty of tips for roasting, grilling, smoking and deep-frying the bird. It also has a turkey cooking time guide, menu options, and (of course) tons of recipes for all the fixings including the pumpkin pie. If you are looking for brownie points, you can even watch a video on how to make a Thanksgiving cornucopia centerpiece using decorative bread dough.
